THIS WEEK WE HAVE: BLITZ THROTTLE CONTROLLER

New to the Evo X is many many things.....

whats even more of a shock is electronic throttle.

OUT LAY
The concept is not new, in fact fly-by-wire systems have been used in commercial and military aircraft for many years. And even though the concept is eminently applicable to motor vehicles, drive-by-wire systems are only just starting to make their way into passenger cars.

There are however some notable exceptions. Electronically controlled throttles are common and are in the process of replacing cables and linkages as the preferred method of controlling engine speed. Similarly, electronically controlled diesel fuel injection systems, with no mechanical connection between the accelerator pedal and engine are becoming the norm, as they can provide much more precise control over the engine.

Blitz Controller.... So what does it do?

Evo X's

The Blitz throttle controller enables alteration of the electronic throttle controller basicly works as a small amplifer, 4 different modes ranging from Economy to Sport the reaction of the accelerator pedal can be altered to suit economy or performance.

Economy Mode
Designed to provide smooth throttle response for street driving providing greater fuel efficiency

Sport 1
Throttle is opened greater at lower revs compared to standard, providing faster low down acceleration but with no modification once the revs increase.
Sport 2
The throttle is opened at twice the rate of standard acceleration, designed for sport driving and circuit use.

Sport 3
Extreme sport and circuit use, the throttle is opened at four times the standard accelerator action speed.

Reverse Cancel harness
Prevents operation in reverse gear for safety when entering your garage.

got one of these in someones hands testing as we speak and yes it is in SST

post will be up shortly

Had mine in for 5 days now so its time to post up what I think.

Firstly, while I love my SST but I hate its take-off without launch control in use. There is a good sec getting to 100k's between a normal foot down launch and a launch control launch(LCL) and this shows even during normal slower driving. Its all good to do LCL when your needing too but day to day it's not a tool that you can use when getting into traffic or at every set of lights. Sometimes you just have to let the WRX's go :-(
This was the main reason I looked at this device, to help out here and it does, this alone makes it worth the money. It adds a suddenness to the cars aggro that Mitsubishi had smoothed out, not like a full dyno tune but it gives back a bit of a sharp edge. During driving as well it kicks in quicker when you put your foot down so I'm looking forward to my next twisty road run.
The way it functions is pretty good too as in the you do not want to be using Sport 3 while in reverse. So I drive home in a sports mode and park then turn of the car. Now when I turn the car back on it's automatically off, I reverse out the drive then turn it one and it selects the mode I was in last and off I go.
I'll add to this post in a few weeks how the economy mode goes but I am having trouble getting it out of the sports modes....

My right foot is to blame as I cannot get a tank of eco driving done so I have no figures. It looks to be 1 to 2 liters per 100k's less when in eco mode but I'm normally in SP1 mode for a more open throttle experience!

so would you recomend this to the SST users you have to drive the traffic everyday? or have to make it through round abouts etc?

Yes, for sure. I site in traffice every second day and I do notice when it's not on.

Filled up last night and got 40km more than normal on the tank which is about 12% BTW.

Sounds good tippy. Is the initial lag gone?

Any tips for where you got the reversing sensor from? I'm planning to get it off the reverse tail lamp but was wondering where you guys got it. So that we don't hijack Ryan's thread... Please reply > http://www.evolutionoz.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=47573
