i am sure someone has used an apexi unit,
even though we got worse results on the dyno using an Apexi filter

If used in conjuction with the HKS RS intake, then the induction noise is VERY loud...
You will be impressed.

i'm planning to use it with an apexi intake and a cusco turbo suction pipe.. would there be any noticable change in induction noise by putting in this box? thanks.

i read on the net that therre was a test for filters done.
The weird thing is that the hks filters had bad filteration.
Did that cause you any trouble?

guys please go ahead and go by this,
i have covered this like 5 times now,
RIGHT...
This test was done over 5 years ago now on the OLD series of filters from HKS the reason this happened and the rumour came from the Skyline Dept not the evo dept.
This happened because some clown came with idea of putting more oil on ment it would be better hence it just got dirtier faster.
I spoke directly with HKS over this...me personally in Japan- I just wanted the real story.. and this is it,
so HKS redesigned the filter range and including offering a 3 layer complete dry filter system for those who wanted a full dry layer and they made it better making it a 3 dry layer setup,
something to look for-
Nissan tend to go Apexi
Subaru go Apexi/Blitz/HKS
Evo (what i see and from my sales records) HKS 70% 10% Blitz 10 % Apexi 10% Ralliart
Persoanlly i have used everything from
apexi,Blitz,HKS,Trust
the best units i have found have been the blitz and the HKS units.
Any questions...
lets have em

I love my HKS. Change your filter every 12 months, you'll be sweet.

btw, HKS RS kit inside HKS box = quiet goodness around town, banshee wail when you get up it.

Have you guys tried the RS kit without a box? Induction noise is 100x louder than stock and makes my MR bov sound aftermarket.

also if you see the link someone put up the actual design more so for those who are not uptodate the button screw on the HKS filter has DD on it,
that filter was made as far back as 01, 2002/03 the new series started.

im already running the HKS suction reloaded kit and it sounds awesome, just wondering, if i but a Kansai box for it, will it quiet it down or will the noise be the same??

So...what is the difference b/w HKS racing suction "reloaded", and HKS power flow "reloaded"?
I've seen yellow and green filters - any difference?

Illegal...but i would love to hear my car without the box on....
The copper wanted to defect me..told me to pop the bonnet and his words were..
"ohhhh....you actually did it properly....its enclosed...."
Then the mofo went and checked to see if my 7 day new tyres if they were bold...
bloody hell

differece between super power flow and racing kit is
the racing kit is a full intake kit pipework clamps, silicon bends the lot.
the super powerflow is a filter and bracket setup and uses factory pipework.

Ryan@Just JDM

no these aren't at 679,
as this was well over 12months ago

Makes no differance its a defect.
Unless the Box is Completly sealed its a defect, trust me i know i got defected for this only a month ago.
If you want to avoid the defect get it engineered but make sure its sealed

Hi Ryan
Mate im after something that will legelfy my engine bay. Im likeing the looks of these units, just a few questions
I have the 4inch turbo excess piping leading to the existing pod. Will that cause a problem?? Im thinking that the intercooler pipe might cause an issue also???

The car is also an RS
Please let me know

hi,
sorry i have no legal advice,
however
the pipework runs on a different angle to all the Jap pipework i see,
example(Ralliart,Monster,HKS etc etc)
this unit looks like a local made job and it won't fit using a Kansai airbox
inlet side of things you can make it bigger.

Do you think the Gruppe M boxes would work??
If not do you think i will need a different IC pipeing setup??

Mar 19 2010, 04:46 PM
gruppe M boxes only work on pipework that follow that path,
as i said that pipe work looks local?
who made it

stick to what you know,
Jap stuff fits and 99% will work or in the oem spot.
right any major brand pipekit will work with a kansai box.
um the only thing i can think of is a carbing setup that will act as a 1/2 shield
